You want me to what!!!!!

I spent the 5 days after my birthday in my apartment coughing and spluttering and taking pills. Caught the Jap. flue and bronchitis and was not feeling so flash for a bit there.

Went to a the hospital/medical centre on the Tuesday and was laughed at by the people on reception...yes i know I can't speak Japanese and i do look funny but...please help me.....they did and i appreciated them very much....Nurses came running...and led me to a cubicle...which i discivered was the gents??? they then handed me a paper cup...giggled and left.....I was stunned for a moment and then realised they wanted a sample!!! well could have been worse...my friend Jeff had a hands on procedure in his nether regions...so i can't complain......
i was then given a check-up and given 4 types of medicine...antibiotics...cold medicine...cough medicine and phlegm medicine!!!
felt like a walking dispensary....

Jusrt want to say a BIG THANK-YOU to Leah who kept me company via c-mail over the week....She is a GEM that girl and a blessing from God!

I was told by the school to basically stay away that week....but later told i would have to take nenque...mmm...i don't think so.....I just patiently dug my heels in...showed them my contract...sent a few polite e-mails to the BOE and got it sorted. 5 days sick leave thanks.

I am thankful that I was able to take time away from work to recover and that I got better within a few days without any nasty lingering effects...Praise God!

It's ma Birthday and I'll sing if i want to.....

Big THAKS to Mary and Leah for making my birthday soooo so so so so so much fun!!!

A merry bunch headed for Kyoto early Saturday Jan 21. It was off to a market for the day...and what a ,arket!!! so os oso so oso so many people and sososososo much food...the girls introduced me to Moce and all sorts of other things i cannot remember the name of....i walked for hours....and could feel the onset of something nasty (see my next post)....so found a wall to sit and close my eyes on...only to be moved on by some facist over zealous car-park attendant!! I then found some hot canned tea and sat in a few tents drinking this loveley brew...watching people and trying to stay warm...it was vey cold!!! I bought a hat...I HATE hats so this tells you how cold I was!!! but it was fun to browse and i bought a nice fan and some great wall hangings for my flat....yaay.....then we all met-up and found our way back to the station...bye Vivian!!! thanks for coming....

Then it was off to the Ryokan....great place...ta Mary!! rested-up for a couple of hours...nice snoring Ross!!! then it was off to dinner....Leah is a STAR and found us a great Yaki Nikku place where we proceded to plunder the food stocks...But not before a quick trip to an internet cafe to find out if U2 tickets have been secured...i get a free drink....but not before paying exhorbitant internet prices!!! Leah i need your help!!! YES...I AM SOOOOO EXCITED...mmm but i can't read a word.....I think we have tickets.....YAAAY!!!
We had a great meal....and i found out i am probably the oldest "First Kiss" person on the planet!!!
Wow a birthday cake.....Yaaaay....thanks Mary and leah...U two are the BOMB!!!!
Then it is home cos it is tooo late to carry on and i am sinking further into my illness (see next posting).
But a lively debate was had about Peace V's war....Christ was a man of Peace and love and grace and we should be to....then the boys had a bit of a laugh which once again brought tears and much mirth!!! Stop scratching Ben....

Next morning...I grab a quick shower...the girls are singing....some crap song about not much!!!

we find a place for a drink and brunch...was Sugoi!! and Leah found a birthday choc for my cake...Clever girl!!! and yaay it was fun....

Nah flag the sightseeing...lets karaoke!!! so it is just me and the girls....I get to belt out some U2....and we all go crazy singing some Spice Girls etc.....thanks girls...was a highlight....

I had sooo much fun in spite of my deteriorating health...thanks to one and all for a most memorable birthday weekend!!!

Mid year conference....talk it up!!!!

Off the plane.....to the supermarket....sleep...to school.....design the perfect teaching plan.......to the Mid-Year conference....see people unseen for 5 months.......

Actually the conf. was okay....the main speaker was funny...had some interesting things to say and i managed to stay awake.......BUT i do wish Japanese speakers would refrain from telling me they are going to be crap and apologising for it before they start...c'mon....u are losing me here......!!!

Some interesting things were said in the seminars...some interesting things by some drunk Japanese teachers that is.....hahahahahahaha....

We had a competition on the second day....and Yaaay (how the heck did we let that happen?) my team won...I think we were stitched-up!!!!

So....we got to go on the main stage in front of 400 plus peoples and talk....well....i had heard enough boring rubbish and was NOT about to add to it so I decided to TALK IT UP a bit and mentioned Mary and her Pink Pencil case phobia...what are the JTE's saying when thay take 5 mins to translate a 30 second explanation?....and why can't we have shorter teaching periods!!!...i wasn't trying to show off...I was just bored...

It was Sugoi to hang with Mary and Felicity and to catch-up with my PJ3 and all the happennings.....
